Bloom is a patient companion app for a group of private physiotherapy clinics. It turns paper exercise sheets into guided daily programmes, keeps clinicians informed between visits, and treats adherence as a design problem rather than a compliance one.
The challenge
Roughly half of patients abandoned their home exercise programme within two weeks, and clinicians only discovered this at the next appointment. The clinics needed engagement without gamification gimmicks — their patients are often in pain, and the tone had to stay respectful and calm.

Research
Diary studies with 24 patients revealed the real barrier wasn't motivation but uncertainty: people stopped because they weren't sure they were doing the movements correctly. That insight moved video guidance and gentle reassurance to the centre of the product.

Design
We designed a warm, quiet interface with generous type and a single clear action per screen. Progress is framed around consistency rather than streaks, and language was reviewed with clinicians to avoid anything that could read as blame.

Development
A shared TypeScript codebase ships to iOS and Android, with offline-first sync so programmes work in gardens, gyms and basements. Clinician dashboards flag patients who have gone quiet, prompting a human check-in rather than an automated nudge.
